More and more cyclists are riding high-performance road bikes.
The Cuxland vacation region, located between the Elbe and Weser rivers, is capitalizing on this trend and has mapped out and signposted three loop routes specifically for athletic cyclists. The shortest road bike route, the “North Sea Coast Tour,” is 71 kilometers long and winds through meadows and fields southwest of Cuxhaven. A challenge for well-trained cyclists is the 121-kilometer “Große Cuxlandtour.”
Even those who don’t want to take it quite so seriously will find plenty of bike tours in Cuxland. A total of twelve loop routes with Low German names such as “de Hoben,” “de Geest,” or “de Utsicht” wind through the flat landscape for distances ranging from 38 to 63 kilometers. Some routes, such as “de Küst,” start in Cuxhaven, while others, such as “de Geest,” begin in the Bremerhaven area.
