Bremen
Bremen, the Hanseatic city and metropolis on the Weser River, with its fascinating sights, is just an hour’s drive from your vacation destination. You can also take the train to Bremen from the Nordholz train station—with one transfer in Bremerhaven.
Otterndorf
The Small Town Otterndorf With its charming old town and several lovely sights, Otterndorf is located on the Elbe River and at the mouth of the Medem River. You can reach Otterndorf by car via the B73 in about 25 minutes, or by train from Cuxhaven.
Stade
Stade – also a Hanseatic city – can be reached via the B73 in about 1 hour and 15 minutes or by train from Cuxhaven. The Old Town is characterized by its waterfront and beautiful historic buildings. The Old Harbor, which dates back to the mid-13th century, is the center of tourist activity, not least because of the cafes, restaurants, and shops that surround it.
Hamburg
If you have enough time, we can arrange a trip to Hamburg recommend. To enjoy a relaxing time, you should take the train directly from Cuxhaven to Hamburg Central Station (HH-HBF)—a 1-hour, 50-minute ride. From there, you can walk to St. Michael’s Church, the Landungsbrücken, the world-famous Reeperbahn, the Speicherstadt, and the Elbphilharmonie.
If you choose to go in the opposite direction, you can walk from the Binnenalster across the Lombardsbrücke to the Außenalster and experience a beautiful, green city with magnificent embassies and residential buildings.

Wind Force 10
"Wind Force 10", the Shipwreck and Fishing Museum is located in two former fish-processing halls at 1 Ohlroggestr.
Joachim Ringelnatz Museum
The "Joachim Ringelnatz Museum" You'll find it in a historic half-timbered house, directly across from Ritzebüttel Castle at Südersteinstaße 44.
Wadden Sea Visitor Center
The “Wadden Sea Visitor Center” invites you to learn everything there is to know about the Wadden Sea World Heritage Site, Nordheimstr. 200.
Hapag Hall
The “Hapag Hallen”, one of the last authentic emigration sites, is located at the harbor at 1 Lentz Street. The historic halls are still used today as a passenger terminal for cruise ships.
Ritzebüttel Castle
The “Ritzebüttel Castle” was the residence of the Hamburg magistrates during the period when Ritzebüttel was part of Hamburg. The castle, parts of which date back to the 14th century, is one of the oldest surviving secular buildings in the region.

Outings When the Weather Is Nice
Zoo by the Sea in Bremerhaven
The Zoo am Meer, Europe's smallest scientific zoo, specializes in aquatic and Nordic animal species. Penguins, polar bears, and seals are the main attractions at this zoo. The exception is the chimpanzees, which were brought to Bremerhaven by sailors in the past.
Seal Colonies
From Cuxhaven, the ships MS Flipper and MS Störtebeker sail to the seal rookeries at the mouth of the Elbe. You’ll get close enough to the animals to observe them undisturbed.
Mudflat Hike
In addition to a mudflat hike to Neuwerk, there are guided mudflat hikes
from Dorum-Neufeld, Cuxhaven-Duhnen, or Cuxhaven-Sahlenburg. You'll learn everything,
what makes the Wadden Sea a World Natural Heritage Site.
Helgoland
The offshore island of Heligoland is a very special place. Here, you can experience nature, culture, and history all in one small area. Even the journey there can be quite exciting. You can take a boat from Cuxhaven to Heligoland. You also have the option of flying to Heligoland from Nordholz Airport.
You’ll disembark on the offshore dune. After taking a walk on the dune and watching the gray seals on the beach, take the ferry over to the main island of Heligoland. There, take a walk across the Oberland to the Lange Anna, and then take the boat back to
Cuxhaven. No matter how you get there, Heligoland is an experience.
